Most often, your first appointment will be a consultation in which we review your health history, perform a thorough oral exam and discuss treatment options. Dr. Loney may also take a panoramic x-ray or cone beam/CT scan, to evaluate the condition of your teeth, bone structure, sinuses, jaw joints, nerves and surrounding tissues. These images provide the more comprehensive view required by oral surgeons than the smaller x-rays, or bitewings typically performed by your general dentist.

Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery requires several additional years of hospital-based surgical and anesthesia training after graduation from dental school. As an Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon, Dr. Loney has been trained to manage a wide variety of problems relating to the mouth, teeth, and facial region. He has expertise ranging from dental implant surgery and wisdom tooth removal to the treatment of facial injuries and fractures. This also includes techniques designed to rebuild bone structure with minimal surgical intervention and optimal patient comfort. Our staff is well trained in assisting with intravenous (IV) sedation and outpatient general anesthesia in our state-of-the-art office setting. Patients are continuously monitored during and after surgery until they are ready to begin their recovery at home.
